Special events insurance. Plan with confidence.

One-day, multi-day and annual options for celebrations, community gatherings and business events across California—all subject to underwriting.

A single day can bring more than a single risk.

A guest injury, damage to a rented venue or an allegation involving alcohol can put the host, organizer and vendors in the same claim. Insurance Steel Brokers helps consumers, event planners, businesses and nonprofits review special event insurance in San Diego County, North County San Diego and throughout California.

From a Carlsbad wedding or Oceanside fundraiser to a San Marcos trade show or a San Diego festival, start with the actual activities, not just the event name. We compare available options against your venue agreement, attendance, dates and alcohol arrangements. Your venue’s insurance is not automatically your insurance.

Build the review around the event—not just a certificate.

Event liability

Review protection for covered third-party bodily injury and property-damage claims, defense provisions, exclusions and limits. Damage to rented premises requires its own wording and sublimit review.

Alcohol-related liability

Host liquor and liquor liability are not interchangeable. Explain whether drinks are sold, included with admission, donated or served by a caterer; options are subject to underwriting.

Venue and additional insured requirements

Share the actual contract, legal names and requested endorsements. A certificate documents coverage; it does not add an insured or amend a policy.

Higher limits and related policies

Ask about available excess limits and their compatibility with event and liquor coverage. Equipment, employees and vehicles may require separate protection.

One-day, multi-day or annual: match the full schedule.

A one-day celebration may still need setup the day before and cleanup the day after. Include rehearsal, delivery, installation and teardown dates, every location and the expected attendance on each day. One-day and multi-day options are subject to underwriting; do not assume a policy includes activity outside its stated period.

If you organize a series of events, ask whether an annual policy can address the disclosed schedule. Annual options are subject to underwriting, reporting requirements and policy terms; they do not mean that every new activity or venue is automatically insured.

Serving alcohol changes the conversation.

An open bar at a private party, ticketed wine tasting and beer festival can create different exposures. Describe who buys, supplies, sells and serves the alcohol, who checks identification, the expected number of consumers per day and the controls for service and security.

Alcohol liability options for events with up to 20,000 alcohol consumers per day are subject to underwriting. Host liquor coverage may not fit a commercial alcohol operation; verify the actual form, exclusions and insured parties. Hiring an insured bartender does not automatically protect the organizer. Insurance is not an alcohol permit or a substitute for checking applicable licensing requirements.

A venue, planner and vendor can each need protection.

Confirm which person or legal entity is hosting the event and should be the named insured. Review venue additional insured requests, vendor certificates and endorsements early. A venue’s own policy or a vendor’s certificate does not necessarily cover your liability, and a planner’s professional services may need a separate errors and omissions review.

Disclose sports participation, animals, rides, staging, temporary structures, pyrotechnics, security and any other unusual activities before relying on a proposal. Participant injuries, assault and battery, hired contractors and damage to borrowed property may be excluded or restricted even when an event class is eligible.

Liability is not event cancellation insurance.

Event liability generally addresses covered claims by others. It does not automatically reimburse your deposits if weather, illness or a vendor problem interrupts the event. Cancellation or postponement protection is a separate discussion with its own availability, covered causes, deadlines and exclusions.

Tell us what financial commitments you want reviewed. Do not assume that poor ticket sales, a change of mind, a known weather threat or every vendor failure can be insured. We will distinguish the requested protection from what an actual proposal offers.

From private celebrations to public gatherings.

Examples that may be considered—all subject to underwriting. This is a sample, not a complete eligibility list. Activities within an event may require additional review, restrictions or separate coverage.

Questions worth asking.

Can you help with wedding and private-party insurance?
Yes. Weddings, birthday parties, reunions and other private celebrations are among the events we can review. Event eligibility, limits and alcohol arrangements are subject to underwriting; homeowners or renters coverage should not be assumed to extend to the event.
Can an event with up to 20,000 attendees be considered?
Yes. Options for up to 20,000 attendees per day and alcohol liability options for up to 20,000 alcohol consumers per day are subject to underwriting. Disclose daily counts, activities and service details; these capacities are not dollar limits or automatic acceptance.
Do you offer one-day, multi-day and annual options?
Yes, all subject to underwriting. The policy must identify the approved dates, locations and activities. Ask specifically about setup, teardown and how additional events are reported on an annual policy.
Does event liability pay if my event is canceled?
Not automatically. Cancellation or postponement protection is different from liability coverage and must be separately discussed and confirmed. Policy triggers, exclusions, purchase deadlines and availability vary.
Do you serve event planners beyond North County?
Yes. Our Carlsbad office helps consumers and organizers across San Diego County and California. Give us the venue location and your role so we can review the event and any separate business exposures.
